Sarangerel Sagahl

The Shroud's Shadow

((This site is currently a work in progress, information about Sarangerel on this site is up to date, but I do need to add more, relevant hooks and add a different photo.))Wrought with the loss of her brothers and sisters and exiled from her homeland, rumors of a feral beast prowling the forests of Gridania quickly echoed throughout it's woods..

Name: Sarangerel Sagahl
Age: 27
Race: Half-Lupin Xaela
Nationality: Azim Steppe, Sagahl Tribe
Gender: Female
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 152lbs
Physique: Toned and Muscular
Physical Description: Pale skin and Unique Black Scale patterns
Eye Color: Coral Pink, Silver Naturally
Hair Color: Naturally Chestnut Brown, Dyed Grape Purple
Profession: Witch, Treasure Hunter
Personality: Condescending, Contemptuous, Prideful, Rigid, Stubborn, Wild, Violent, Bloodthirsty.Sarangerel possesses a very difficult personality to get along with, often putting people down that she sees as below her, but is more inclined to give someone the time of day if they show a display of intelligence or raw power. This harsh aura is immediately dispelled when in the presence of any beast, as she has always had a soft spot for animals due to her upbringing, catching her off guard during this moment of weakness will surely throw her into a flustered state.

Named for her lucent silver eyes, and born as a Half-Lupin Xaela hybrid to the Sagahl tribe, a smaller, more peaceful tribe outside the Azim Steppe primarily known for seeing both beastmen - and beastkin as equals. Being mostly gatherers and producers of textiles, this situates the Sagahl as one of the very few Xaela tribes that openly communicate with outsiders. The tribes peaceful reputation with outsiders and it's reverence for beastkin specifically, make it a common destination, especially for the local beastmen population of Lupin in doma to retreat to, whether they are wishing to seek an simpler life or escaping the yoke of banditry, often marrying within the tribe after some time.Sarangerel's mother, a native Xaela shaman, would teach her child the tribe's traditions, gathering, tending to livestock, crafting, thaumaturgy, geomancy and eventually passing down the artistry of the Xaela shamans, allowing her to manipulate eldritch magics through the use of totems and the manipulation of astral and umbral aethers. And her father, a former bandit, would pass down his knowledge of swordsmanship. It would quickly become apparent that she would become talented in both sorcery and swordplay as she grew and cultivated her skills, believing that she'd blossomed enough, her mother would pass down a family heirloom down to Sarangerel, a shard of the Xaela's shattered star, an extraordinary relic believed to carry the very essence of Nhaama herself, of which she'd now use as her personal catalyst. As a young adult, the XIIIth legion would advance upon the land of Doma and the surrounding territories, her tribe more vulnerable as it is not nestled within the safety of the Azim Steppe, was subjected to the assault and was quickly forced to disband and scatter, losing her parents and many of her brothers and sisters in the process. Displaced and out of options with nowhere else to turn to, she'd group up with and follow the remainder of her tribe and other Xaela refugees across the sea to Aldenard, where she'd soon find herself in the frigid lands of Coerthas.Immediately met with more violence at the hand of the Ishgardians in a blind rage in their crusade against the dragons, possessing the ability to defend herself, Sarangerel would retreat and find safety in the forests of Gridania, now alone and clutching the heirloom that her mother passed down to her, she'd swear to avenge her fallen brothers and sisters in the name of her only remaining family, which she vowed to never lose, Nhaama, to which she would suffuse the bright coral crystal into her very essence both physical and aetherial, granting her extraordinary command of magic and aether beyond the average being, although now living up to her namesake, a mortal's frame is surely a delicate vessel to contain that of a deity...Her outlook on outsiders now jagged and jaded, she refused to contact or integrate herself into the local communities in Gridania, instead choosing to live by herself in a secluded area of the forests. As a Sagahl who is all too familiar with living off the land, Sarangerel comfortably prospered in the dense and abundant woodlands of Gridania. As her knowledge of the land became more and more intimate, she'd eventually stumble upon the various ruins and dungeons, uncovering swathes of scrolleries and relics. With a naturally curious mind and a desire to hone her strength, she'd unlock the secrets to forbidden void magics such as blood magic, promising powers to mend fatal wounds or even bring those who'd perished back from the dead, among other things - she'd then know she would never have to lose anyone else ever again, and quickly became obsessed. With her augmented magical ability, these would be skills effortless to command, but she knew that she'd need blood, lots of it. It's here that she'd make her presence known, she'd stalk the night for prey, targeting individuals who’d travel alone, often leaving behind gruesome scenes as she harvested the sanguine fluid that she'd need for her experiments. Word quickly spread of these events, landing her the reputation as the bloodthirsty beast that roams and terrorizes the otherwise peaceful woods of the Shroud. In her experiments, she'd craft with her own blood, a creature much like that of a Dark Knight's esteem, the key difference being that it is a tangible creature of flesh and blood, a terrifyingly corporeal manifestation that is a personification of all of her wrath, dread, suffering and despair, while also functioning as a vessel for any of Sarangerel's overflowing aether, this towering, sinister looking creature, "Azrayal", is able to be summoned, commanded and puppeteered at will, and is one of Sarangerel's few companions. While her former friends and family are only now but memories to her, she'd now at least acquired the abilities that she'd allegedly need to make sure she'd never suffer such losses again. She'd eventually make efforts to reintegrate herself into society, quite enjoying her escapades as the beast of the shroud, she would find herself enthralled with the various opportunities for bloodsport in Eorzea, as well as taking on bounties as a form of personal entertainment, as she had no need for gil. In addition to indulging in her sadistic side, her natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge remains still, and she often travels, with the ambition to uncover and discover the various treasures of Etheirys.

---WIP---Long From Home: An immediate observation, it's unusual for a Xaela to be far from the steppe, it may quickly become a topic of casual conversation, although something else about her appearance may take precedence..Sagahl Tribe: Those of the steppe or familiar with the history of the Xaela may know of the Sagahl and may be confused or surprised by some of Sarangerel’s behaviors that do not align with the traditions of the tribe, those less versed may find the tribe unheard of, perhaps sparking some level of curiosity.Survivalist: Brought up to live off the land in the Steppe, Sarangerel is a proficient gatherer and forager, capable of making simple tools and shelters, allowing her to spend days or weeks away from civilization, a valuable set of skills to possess while on any mission or adventure.

Hello! I'm Luna! Thank you for looking over my character's page! I’m a very shy transwoman in her late 20’s looking to break out of her shell (the other one) through getting out of my comfort zone by the way of forcing myself to socialize more. Outside of XIV, I love Gaming, Arcade Rhythm Games, Music, Touhou, Mecha (Western), Anime, Animals and spending time with my girlfriends and with my friends!I'm extremely new to the world of FFXIV RP and RP in general, but have always been fascinated by people's character's, the way they interact with eachother and the general creativity that goes into roleplay, and have always wanted to get into it myself. I would say that I am a beginner as far as roleplay and writing goes, but I'm not completely illiterate! My intention is to form deep and exciting friendships and relationships with other players and their characters! I'm very excited to see how characters interact with Sara! Mare is definitely required for the full experience of her character, feel free to swap codes!!I’m okay with a variety of themes, from general everyday type stuff to dark, depressing, thrilling, more esoteric themes. I’m also okay with smut and romance, so long as it’s carefully built up to through our character’s own interpersonal relationships. I’d think I’d like to leave my character’s preferences ambiguous, but I suppose OOC I definitely would prefer to keep to my own personal preferences (female, trans female), but a male relationship is definitely not out of the question. All of my characters exist within current day Etheirys, and may have actively participated in it's history, or at the very least acknowledge it, and I prefer to think of the WoL as an ambiguous entity that is completely separate from the lives of my own characters, but their canonical actions may influence their stories and character development.I work Wed - Sat overnights, and I am free Sunday - Tuesday. You are always free to reach out to me on Discord or through in-game tells if you’d like to arrange something, or just to chat and say hi! You may also reach out to me on any of my social media pages! It goes without saying, but no bigots please. :3
